A Witch's Brew of Halloween Projects

A Witch’s Brew of Halloween Projects

Personally, I think Halloween has become a girl’s holiday, a witch’s holiday. Everything about her is identified with the season. What girl can resist her shoes? Nobody can pull off some fun heels with turned-up toes like a witch. She can accessorize with the best of them. She’ll take her LBD, add a signature hat and wrap herself in a cape to add a sense of mystery.

She’s not just a pretty face. She has converted her broom from a symbol of household drudgery into the means to propel herself anywhere she desires. Cauldrons, wands, and a good cookbook let her brew up the perfect potion. Her friend and confidant, the black cat, is evident everywhere during the season.

DIY Floating Witch Hats

I wanted some witchery for the front porch that you could see from the street but didn’t get in the way of the front door. Magically floating witch’s hats that glow at night looked like the answer.

This crafter really stepped up her game. It is simple and sturdy, just what you need outdoors. It also plays the opening tones of the holiday season. I can hear my footsteps crunching the scarlet leaves as I walk up to the front door.

These clever crafters used a Christmas tree form to make a cute witch’s hat. Once they wrapped the tree form to make the pointed hat, they added seasonal decorations. So it can be up all fall long.

The really fun part is the legs. The stockings and shoes really highlight the rest of the decoration.

I bet you can bring your own personal touches to the Witch Hat Wreath Tutorial.

I just can’t get enough shoes. My closet is just stuffed with them. This crafty lady has repurposed some shoes. Not only are they fun witch’s shoes, but they are functional Halloween decorations.

I can see them on the table by my front door where the black cat guards them. Perhaps they can sit on the mantle hiding in a spooky garland. Then again, they just might find a cozy place on my bookshelf as bookends for all of my spellbooks.

Witches are scary. At least most of them are. Like the Wicked Witch of the West, they are the stuff of nightmares. They are powerful and don’t seem to like children, other than as a course in one of their meals.

So I couldn’t help but smile a little when I saw this craft project. This poor witch wound up in a really undignified predicament. I even felt sorry for her. Who wouldn’t be embarrassed planted head first on someone’s porch?

Now, you can have a little fun at the expense of a scary witch when you learn How To Make Wicked Witch Legs.
